School’s In
27 Aug 2008Yeah, so much for the summer vacation. Yours truly is yet again sitting on mind numbing lectures. I suppose it will become more interesting sooner or later though, since I’m studying japanology now! The first lecture was a painful flashback to several courses at Vasa university — during my two years of majoring in English there — such as linguistics and phonetics. I’m also outstandingly worried about learning all the hiragana and katakana signs, let alone 2000 (or more) kanji. Holy hell. So tomorrow’s homework consists of 15 hiragana, which I think I can manage. Then we are supposed to learn all 46 hiragana in two weeks, same goes for katakana.
Also, today was probably the most interesting first day of school so far before I even got to school. I woke up at 8.30-ish a.m. feeling like I was going to throw up any second and my tummy was aching like there’s no tomorrow. Srsly wtf. So I got up with my aching and bleeding self together with the “morning sickness” (no I’m not pregnant, obviously) and hunched at the toilet seat for quite some time. I never threw up though. Then I tried to take a painkiller, which was obviously not going to happen since the mere thought of having something in my mouth made me want to rush back to the toilet. So I took it like a (wo)man medieval-style and let the aching gnaw away my insides like a dog that hasn’t gotten any food in a week. Metaphors <3 All of this while feeling incredibly nauseous until about 1 p.m. when school started. I suppose I got lucky in some very twisted sense.
Other than that I seem to be having a very soft start at school. Lectures on Thursday and Wednesday this week and next week, then a few English courses start at the university. I bet there will be alot of work to do at home though, but I hope it will be more enjoyable than last year (which was truly a pain in ass).
