Hair modeling for Miraculos Oy/KC Professional, 22.9.2009. Hair done by Markku Ruotsalainen.
I’m feeling productive today, my productiveness is however in a mental battle with the part of me rationalizing about the single thing I actually should be doing all day long; studying. I’ll just have to wait with washing the rugs, sorting out old clothes from my dresser and cleaning the apartment in general. Of course the next time I have a prime opportunity to do all those things my productivity will be gone with the wind.
Yesterday I tried looking for a pair of ankle boots in town with Katriina, but the only pair I actually liked cost over 100 euros so nevermind. Then we were supposed to go grocery shopping, make dinner and do our homework and a small presentation at Katriina’s apartment, but I actually ended up being a hair model for Miraculos Oy/KC professional at a hotel in town. True story. Earlier that day one of my friends, Alexandra, had posted a status on her Facebook page asking if anyone was interested in being a hair model. I was, but before I got to her the slots were filled up. So later that day as I’m about to go to the store with Katriina my phone rings and Alexandra tells me one of the girls backed out and asks me if I’m still intersted. Hell yeah! Feeling slightly guilty, although she told me it was fine, I leave Katriina and make my way to Radisson SAS Hotel at the center of Vaasa where two guys from Miraculos Oy were preparing a bunch of girls to do some hair modeling at a presentation held later that evening at the same hotel. They ended up dying my hair into a slightly darker shade of brown, a very nice and natural-looking color. No cutting of the hair occured, as I wanted to keep the length. They also went crazy with the curling iron on me. The presentation itself wasn’t much of a hassle. They had us up on stage two by two, and then we just sat there while they demonstrated whatever they wanted to demonstrate with our hair. At the end we were all given some products as a thanks for the modeling. So that’s more than a 100 euros worth of coloring and products right there, awesome!
Alot of other things have been going on lately as well. For one thing I have started to do ashtanga yoga at Wasa Yoga Center, through an extended beginner’s course offered in cooperation with Arbis. So far I’ve really like it. I’ve never been much of a sporty person, but ashtanga feels different in comparison to all the make-your-heart-explode and chase-this-ball-stupid kind of activities. In yoga there is just you and your yoga mat, it doesn’t matter what the people next to you do, all that is important is you do as well as you can. In addition to doing pretty well I feel like I’m improving every week, which is very rewarding.
On top of all of this I’m expecting a very special visitor in December/January. I never expected anything like this, but I couldn’t have wished for anything better.
